Original Artist: Karl Gustav Carus (January 3, 1789 - July 28, 1869) was a German physician, painter and natural philosopher. His painting combined the soul life accessible in the dream with the landscape art after the ideal of Goethe. He is considered one of the universal geniuses of the 19th century in Germany.
