ABOUT
Adriaen Coorte is a Dutch painter of the Baroque. Very little is known about the life of this outstanding still life artist. Coorte almost fell into oblivion for almost 200 years after his death. His work found its way into public collections only in the 20th century. Today Coorte is recognized as a master of light and details.

A SPRIG OF GOOSEBERRIES
Coorte confined himself to the representation of fewer objects in the majority of his pictures. [4] His paintings are characterized by a detailed fine painting with skillful lighting. By a particularly natural representation, the objects look almost realistic. A wonderful example of how light is used in painting is Coortes still life of 1699.
