WILLEM CLAESZ HEDA
ABOUT

Willem Claeszoon Heda (1593/1594 – 1680/1682) was a Dutch Golden Age still life artist from the city of Haarlem. Heda was a master at displaying the material expression of the objects. The still-lifes of Heda often have a composition in the shape of a triangle, with the highest objects placed on one side. Heda used relatively little color in his work, which some people call monochrome.

THE REDUCTION

OF COLOR

NAUTILUS CUP

The most obvious in Willem Cleaez Heda's still life is the very reduced color spectrum. Nevertheless, the small scenes are brilliant in every detail. Light and shadow are used masterfully. Out of disorder arises symmetry.
